Hiatus

06 March 2008

The word that send cold shivers down the spine of webcomic readers everywhere. As some of you may have noticed I haven't updated the comic in a few weeks, and I apologise for not letting you all know of the reasons sooner. Firstly, 7 Shades is not dead; I still have more material written, and more to write, including two new comics I'm working on, however due to real life rearing its ugly head updates for the foreseeable future are likely to be sporadic at best. My advice to all those who want to keep up with any updates etc is to subscribe to my RSS feed (little icon in the URL bar or top right of the news box).

Thanks to everyone for your support thus far and in the future.

Better The Devil You Know

30 January 2008

I've had an epiphany: Meeting girls in clubs is not a good idea. Its taken two decades for me to realise that mutual inebriation is not a solid basis for a relationship, or at least one that last past sunrise. This has lead to the dilemma of where exactly to find females of the pallid and lacy variety other than the clubs and bars dedicated to catering for them. It struck me that I hardly ever see Goths outside of darkened clubs, and when the lights come on they suddenly disappear, scuttling for the exits and darkened recesses (a friend of mine drew the startlingly insightful, if slightly insulting, comparison with cockroaches).

A quick search of local graveyards proved unrewarding, so where do they all go in the daytime? From what I can tell the primary industry of Goth seems to be in only one of two areas; telemarketing, or the wide field of 'artist' (sometimes pronounced with an 'ee' depending on how good they think they are). The phone operators really didn't like the role reversal of me calling them, and even less so me asking if they would like to come and see The 69 Eyes with me. That left the artists. Camping in several of London’s galleries yielded results similar to the graveyard, which makes me wonder if the artists subsidise their talents with cold-calling. Thoroughly disheartened by the whole thing I went to drown my sorrows at a bar. And met a girl.

There is probably a moral here... answers on a postcard.

I would like to direct your attention here. Any sarcastic comment would seem trite.
